Walking around my hometown gives a different vibe than any other city. It has only been two days since my homecoming but I actually begin to hate staying at home, because I can't seem to orient myself with no To-Do or Events list on my desktop. As a member of the 'anak dara' club there's always a lot of chores to do anyway, but everything is so random but mundane. Over the past 48 hours, observing my dad's pet fish swim in its aquarium is one of my many activities. It's full of wonder these creatures, but the more I see it the more I don't see any point in keeping a fish as a pet.
Went to the mall with mom today. All over the place, I can hear Christmas songs and jingle bells echoing the shopping alleys. I realized that over the other side of the country December don't feel like it's going to be a time for Christmas. Somehow the celebration, the vibe is stronger here but maybe demographic plays a role in that. Over here, I can hear mom and dads calling a Cornelius, Joseph, Christine instead of Ahmad, Siti or Ali. Anyway, we saw two-footed reindeer ascending the escalator today, which grabbed everyone's attention including the dude at a fast-food restaurant who wrongly took my order. Wouldn't really blame him for the mistake, because either I have ever seen a costume where you have to wear the entire body of a reindeer up to 3 metres length.. on your head.
I got confused for a while when I passed a shop blasting out Chinese New Year songs and selling cute Cheongsams for little girls. I thought Christmas is next week?
An entirely different vibe.
