Have you read the news? About what is taking place right now in Palestine and Israel? Looking at visuals of brothers and sisters next to wrecked buildings with blood stains on their clothes is very disturbing. It is haunting to see people crying with such emotional pain on the tv screen when there is hardly any help given to them. It's a pity that it's not the civillian's fault that this all happened. Every piece of debris from the explosions out there are the result of the twisted world of politics- all in the name of greed, fueled by money, endless weapon supplies and misused power.
I'm not very sure of what the implications of the attacks to the Islamic political world, but as an ordinary below-average Muslim I feel very saddened to see such calamities faced by people of my own religion. Some days I wish I can be there for the women and children, to give a helping hand in these time of turbulence. I cannot imagine feeling the same alarming state of hearing shattered glasses flying in the air, the waves of quakes underneath my feet, shortness of breath in the darkness and hearing the daunting sounds of mass concrete hitting the ground.
It's such an irony that while the rest of the world were watching spectacular explosions in the sky as the clock strucks 1200 on January 1st, the children in Palestine were hearing real explosions in their own neighbourhood... and in celebration of what? Hamas violence for 8 years is 'mild' compared to Israeli terrorism in 6 days. They're using weapons ten folds more powerful than the home-made Hamas rockets.
My prayers are with the people of Palestine who are facing hardship at the moment and for the rest of us, may Allah instill in us the empathy for them like the empathy towards our families. Ameen.
Perhaps this is the time for us to open our eyes to this inhumane genocide that is slowly taking place. Happy new year! Peace.
