Wedding Invitation Cards

It's usual for weddings to be held mid-year and towards the end of the year in Malaysia because it's the time of school holidays.

These days, invitation cards are getting more and more creative compared to the conventional ones in the past. My family have received many, but the most creative one that we got so far is the invitation card from my neighbour. Unfortunately, I'm not able to detect the company who produce the card. The neighbour is having a wedding and an engagement ceremony at once. One is getting engaged with a national badminton player.. but I don't really know him. Hehe.

The first impressive thing about it is that it's a hardcover! It's about 0.5mm thick. Everything is engraved with floral ornaments. Folded in a stylish and creative way too. The invitee's name is placed at the front of a 'folder' that wraps the card.

To read the contents, you have to remove the "folder" of course. Then it opens up to portraits of the bridegrooms which are layered with a translucent paper. There are two pages actually, so to read further details you'd have to flick it upward. The event tentative is written on the right side as you open it up.

And this one, is the humble invitation card for my cousin's wedding this Sunday! The card is produced by a design company in Sibu.

Well, I must admit it that my neighbour comes from a well off family so that's (most probably) how and why they can come up with the luxurious-looking and elegant card. Or maybe, they have friends who work at good design companies. It's not really important to have a fancy card, though it'd be nice to receive something 'inviting' for a merry occassion. However, I hope people don't spend so much for the cards just to show off, because arts and creativities should not be misused that way. Moderation is the best practice.

It's exciting to see design companies making healthy competitions as the local industry matures because it can help them provide better services at competitive prices, in the future. Good for the economy, the people and the businesses.

Personally, I'd love to have a nice invitation card for my own wedding.
