The birth of Hana

Alhamdulillah.. By Allah's grace I gave birth to our beautiful daughter on 10th Dec 2013. The pregnancy was an amazing experience and the labor experience is even more so. Kinda regret it that I didn't keep a journal of my pregnancy journey throughout.... It would be a good reference in the long run.

Warning: Granny story ahead - you might stop reading here if you're not interested in lengthy real-life stories.

Throughout my pregnancy I've always had elevated blood pressure which range from 120-140 (sys) & 70-90 (dia). Sadly since I'm under nearest Klinik Kesihatan care, their stringent diagnosis put me in the Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) category. I regret to be labelled so, because I think I've always felt fine. Occasionally I'd get tired, but any headaches would just go away with a good rest. So on this unfortunate day I was on a routine blood pressure checkup when my bp went as high as 150/90. So there I went, hopped on two connecting ambulance to the hospital (I end up at HSNZ). My worst experience was getting VE done on myself.. Once atDungun and another at the screening room at HSNZ. It was a frustrating experience because I kinda knew it's unnecessary because I wasn't feeling any pain. The CTG showed only mild contractions.

Finally, after staying at a 3rd class ward for a night and a couple of nights at an upgraded 2nd class ward; the doctor who did the Sunday morning rounds gave me an option to either stay or be discharged. I was on the verge of being induced that day, thankfully I could go home and wait out for any stronger labor signs. By this day I've lost my mucus plug (bloody show) but the contraction pains were irregular.

I took efforts to naturally inducing labor by taking this 'akar fatimah' extract, eating spicy food, walking a lot (i was really active, even went to Dungun to buy new tv for our house). And then yeah, tried the 'husband selusuh' as well. Hehehe..

10 DEC 2013
My sweet husband bought me nasi lemak for breakfast, which i finished off through a wave of painful surges. My husband went back to work that day after taking leave to take care of me while I was hospitalized. At first I wasn't sure, but I took the effort to time my contractions... And tadaa. It was the 5:1:1! It's show time.. The pain got stronger every minute. Husband was summoned to bring me to the hospital (Hosp PRK MUIP Kuantan).

The weather was bad that day in Dungun & Paka. Thankfully there were no road closures on our way to Kuantan. The weather in Kuantan was beautiful!

Soon as we got to the hospital, I was screened and Dr Noraziana was there to perform VE. I was already 3cm dilated & my cervix was already soft (not sure how much I've effaced though). After VE she performed AROM and pop! There goes my water, flowing like a broken dam. Btw I've been going on follow ups with Dr Noraziana all these while and I'm so thankful she is willing to accept my case. A calm, gentle person.. Highly recommended!

So I was warded and given time to perform solat Zohor & eat lunch before transferred to the LR. Contraction pains continued and I must say, it got worst. I was quite nervous when they wheeledchair me to the LR, I had zero expectations.

I was predicted to be fully dilated by 8.30pm, but i actually fully dilated by 5pm something. Thus, the pushing episodes started. I think I pushed about 4-5 times.. Or more. My husband was with me throughout the process and something to remember was his pale face when I was in pain... Hehe.

Hana was born at 6.37pm @ 3.36kg. That night I slept like a baby.
