I almost could not believe it that I'm about to finish my 2nd Year when I went to sign my exam slip the other day.
The weeks went by without traces. I'm not very sure whether it's me who got too caught up with my busy life that I don't feel the clock ticking or maybe the time just pass by quickly these days. Another six months and I'll be in a cubicle pretending to be an adult from 9 to 5.
It has been raining almost every day lately. For the past 2.5 years that I've been here, it's always like this when it's close to finals in this university.. the weather can be really hot in mid-afternoon, gloomy and rainy in the evening on until the next morning. This is the time when many people show off their cool sweaters, stay inside their rooms cosily reading lecture notes or rather, doing what else there is- indoors. Somehow I like it better when the weather's not so hot and gloomy without the sunshine straining my pupils in the day. It gives me more reasons to have my hot coffee while getting my works done. And I like the sound of rainfalls!! It soothes me.
To rewind a bit, last week was my class's (sort of like) a Raya gathering. It was done in a lecture room at the old buildings. Even though it was simple, it was fun and memorable. The most memorable thing was the performance with four of my friends (all guys) on guitars. We played three simple songs, on the "stage" in front of the class (no really, there was a stage and it was damn hot sitting in front there) but we performed without vocals. It was sort of "prohibited" for a female to sing in this society, so since we don't have male talents we just play the vocals on the guitar. I tried singing just to guide the other guys of the tempo. Hehe. Hopefully the "ustads" didn't hear me. Aurat2. Hehe.
Well, the second song that we played didn't turn out that well. It was "Hilang" from the Indonesian movie Garasi. I only figured out the first part of the song, and we've only rehearsed it three hours prior to the gathering so didn't really meet the expected quality. But nonetheless, it was the first time for me playing in front of more than THREE people.. hehe. Syabbas betty! Due to my lack of playing recently, for the three (or two?) days that we rehearsed, I hurt my fingers a bit. I had blisters and it hurt like hell to even type on the computer. But then, when we start playing together I totally forget about it. Amazing. Haha. It felt weird in the beginning because I was a (Malay) girl (in baju kurung), holding a guitar, surrounded by four guys. But who cares? Even if it did look inappropriate it's still me. Yes, I play guitar and I have callouses on the tip of left hand fingers to prove it!! I am me, me, me and no one else.
For next week, my big to-do(s) list include 1) PCS presentation + slides; 2) Analog Electronics Test, 3) Electromagnetics Theory test. I am soooo going to be really wollyheaded in the next 24x5 hours. Oh speaking of EMT, my group made a website for our simple project. Check it out!
'Til I write again.
